I am more of a beer drinker rather than a wine drinker. I would always prefer brandy, vodka, and other liquors over wine. Wine for me are just to symbolize a special occasion and should just be drank for a toast or something. I guess I was wrong about that impression. It was just recently when I was able to appreciate drinking wine and was able to drink it the way the French do.
Last November 25, I was invited to attend a VIP wine dinner at Sofitel and was able to meet again Mr. Bernard Flour, the owner Le Cellier French Wine Selection (Le Cellier Quality Store Corp.) Mr. Flour explains on how wine gives meaning to every dinner and that for every kind of food, there is a wine that will perfectly match the flavor.
What makes that evening more special is that I was able to meet a great wine maker from Beaujolais, France–Monsieur Yves Dominique. Monsieur Yves Dominique came from a long generation of well known wine maker. Now being on the 5th generation of the wine maker family, he is distributing their product into 43 countries in the world.
Wine maker Monsieur Yves Dominique and Le Cellier’s Bernard Flour introduced us to one of the best tasting wine in the world–Beaujolais Nouveau. The Beaujolais Nouveau is a wine with 30 days of vintage and has been brought to the market after that 30 days. More than 80 million bottles of Beaujolais Nouveau are distributed around the world annually. Beaujolais Nouveau has been one of the major source of economic growth in the province of Beaujolais, France.
The event was also graced by different people from the media. The dinner is also a way of introducing wine to more Filipinos and help then understand wines better. Drinking does not only provides pleasure to its drinkers and also helps improve health.
Some benefits of drinking wine:
- Reduces heart attack
- Lowers the risk of heart disease.
- Lower risk of stroke
- Reduces the risk of diabetes
Of course drinking wine should be taken moderately just like any other beverages. A regular intake of wine in a moderate manner will surely improve ones health.
The dinner has really changed my views on wine and after I have tasted it, I began to love it more than my favorite brand of beer. I guess I am now shifting from a beer drinker into a wine lover. In fact, while writing this article I’ve just consumed the bottle of wine they gave us as a souvenir. And my brand of wine will be no other than the Beaujolais Nouveau which is distributed by Le Cellier French Wine Selection.
