It was a dream like experience meeting the founder of the platform that I have been using from all the websites that I am managing. Listening to him is god-like.
I was a very awesome experience meeting the co-founder of WordPress, Matt Mullenweg, in the WordPress Meetup held on June 9, 2014 at the Globe Tower, Bonifacio Global City.
Bloggers, programmers, and web developers coming from different places, as far as Davao and Bicol came to meet the WordPress action star.
During the meet up, Matt shares his experience and ideas on how he came up with WordPress and the ideals behind it. He mentioned that he wanted to have the best features on the different blogging platform into one simple, understandable, and easy to operate blogging platform. And on May 24, 2003, he started working on WordPress, which then has a different name.
He also mentioned about the vision of wordpress “To democratise publishing.” Publishing should be available for everyone to express their thoughts and opinions, and share it so that others may read it. He also mentioned that in democratizing publishing, there should also be responsibility in it. There should be a guiding principle that will give credibility in publishing thoughts and stories. There should be a code of ethics.
When asked if there are existing blogging guidelines and code of ethics, he said that there is none as of the moment, but then he said that there should be a group who would voluntary call and strongly push for the creation and implementation of the codes.
Upon hearing his words on blogging, on publishing, his vision, and his idea on the code of ethics, I simply believe that we should start taking blogging into the next level.
